Day 1: Colombo – Nogombo

Arrive in Colombo and transfer to hotel in Negombo (38Kms), day at leisure. Overnight Negombo (Meals: No Meals)

Day 02: Negombo – Dambulla – Habarana (149.5Kms)

After breakfast leave to Habarana. En route visit the caves of Dambulla, most famous Rock Temples built by King Walagamba of Anuradhapura. The first Cave host a magnificent 47ft long recumbent image of Buddha which is cut straight out of the rock and many other images of deities associated with Buddhism are also present. We continue journey to Habarana and check-in to hotel. Overnight in Habarana (Meals: Breakfast)

Day 03: Habarana – Sigiriya (15Kms)

This morning again after breakfast drive to Sigiriya, a World Heritage Site”and the 5th Century “Fortress in the Sky”, which is perhaps the most wonderous site on the island. Known also as Lion Rock because of the huge lion that once stood at the entrance to King Kashyapa’s ancient palace, set at the summit of the 600ft high rock.

Day 04: Habarana – Polonnaruwa – Passikudah (116Kms)

After breakfast we drive to Polonnaruwa, an ancient city and a worthy showcase of the great ancient Sri Lankan architecture dating back to 12th Century AD, with its many Buddhist monasteries and monuments built by King Parakramabahu 1. Many well-preserved sites are scattered around this ancient city, notable is the Gal Viharaya which boasts huge stone monoliths of the lord Buddha, in sitting, standing and reclining positions as well as the Thupaaramaya Image house. We have lunch at Priyamali Gedara in Polonnaruwa and we then head off to Passikudah, famous for one of the longest stretches of shallow coastline in the world, here you can walk kilometers into the sea and yet the water is only a few inches deep. Day 05 & 06: Passikudah

At leisure so you can enjoy the shallow waters and tranquil surroundings. Overnight in Passikudah (Meals: Breakfast)

Day 07: Passikudah – Bandarawela (191Kms)

After breakfast set off for Bandarawela the second largest town in the Badulla District. It is surrounded by dense and lush vegetation and due to its higher altitude, Bandarawela enjoys a milder weather conditions throughout the year and very popular tourist destination for locals. The ancient Dhowa Buddhist rock temple is one of the well-known heritage sites in this region and the temple contains a 12m high Buddha image sculpted from rock and paintings depicting Jataka stories belonging to the Kandyan era. Other notable historic places to visit are Adisham Bungalow, Bandarawela Hotel and Lipton’s Seats. Poonagala, Ampittiakande and Leangawela are three stunning tea estates found around the area. Afternoon is at leisure. Overnight at Bandarawela (Meals: Breakfast)

Day 08: Bandarawela

After breakfast sightseeing of Bandarawela to include Adisham Bungalow, Bandarawela Hotel and Lipton’s Seats. Poonagala, Ampittiakande and Leangawela.  Overnight in Bandarawela (Meals: Breakfast)

Day 09: Bandarawela – Tissamaharama (101Kms)

After breakfast set off to Tissamaharama and in the afternoon, enjoy a jeep safari of Yala National Wildlife Sanctuary. This is nature its best, where wild animals roam freely around in their natural habitat and you can easily spot wild boar, elephants, deer, peacocks to name a few. The elephants gather at the water holes for drinking and bathing which is simply a thrill to watch. Overnight in Tissamaharama (Meals: Breakfast)

Day 10: Tissamaharama – Yala (23Kms)

Our adventure continues with a morning jeep safari of Yala National Wildlife Sanctuary, there is so much to explore and enjoy nature in its true colours. Return to the hotel in the afternoon and rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Tissamaharama (Meals: Breakfast)

Day 11: Tissamaharama – Bentota (205Kms)

This morning we drive off to Bentota via Galle, where we visit Galle fort a UNESCO World heritage site, first built in 1588 by the Portuguese and subsequently fortified by the Dutch during the 17th Century. Rest of the day is at leisure in Bentota. Overnight in Bentota (Meals: Breakfast)

Day 12: Bentota

Day at leisure – Bentota is a coastal town in Sri Lanka, located in the Galle District of the Southern Province. Bentota is a tourist attraction, with a local airport (Bentota River Airport) and boasts a handful of world-class hotels. It is a destination for water sports and famous for its toddy production, an alcoholic beverage made of coconut nectar. It also has a turtle hatchery, located on Induruwa beach. Overnight in Bentota (Meals: Breakfast)

Day 13: Departure Bentota – Colombo (2hrs drive approx.)

Transfer to airport for your onward journey.
