Day 02: Cheers to Reykjavik & Northern Lights
For many, seeing the Northern Lights is the reason to travel to Iceland in winter. Created by solar storms originating from the sun, the Northern Lights need clear winter skies to be seen. So while you have the whole day to enjoy Reykjavik, later in the evening you’ll be picked up to join in the fun of the Aurora Borealis. There is something special about the idea of hunting for the Aurora Borealis and you’ll be totally under its spell. It is a mesmerising experience and a memory that will linger on!
Our expert operational team has decades of experience analysing weather patterns. We will review, each and everyday, the cloud forecast and the northern lights forecast in detail. We will not venture out in search of them unless we think we have good chance.
All our northern lights tours are guided by one of our specially trained northern lights guides, they are both knowledgeable and helpful and will even give you tips on how to take photos of the night sky and of aurora. We offer free use of camera tripods (a must to take northern lights photos), we only have a few so if you own a tripod be sure to bring it along. Overnight Reykjavik (Meals: Breakfast)
Day 3: Reykjavik – Golden Circle
Day is left at leisure until we star the “Cheers to Reykjavik” tour at 18:00 and this beer and food tour is based at Bryggjan Brugghús in the heart of Reykjavík Old Harbour, perfect for foodies and beer enthusiast, not to mention those wanting to find out a little more about Icelandic culture, heritage and current affairs.
So, after a couple of hours of enjoying food and drink at Bryggjan Brugghus we’ll set off into the night in search of the Aurora Borealis! For many the idea of experiencing the Northern Lights is the ultimate reason for traveling to Iceland in winter, and for good reasons, the Auroras are both wonderfully mysterious as they are captivating. Overnight Reykjavik (Meals: Breakfast)
Day 4: Departure
This is “goodbye Iceland”, and we transfer to the airport for onward journey.
