  • 4 nights’ hotel stay (2 persons sharing room) with breakfast in Sestri Levante
  • Cinque Terre Train and Trekking Card

Day 1: London – Geneva

On the Eurostar to Paris and then transfer onto a high-speed train and whiz through France towards Switzerland in just over three hours, all the while admiring the beautiful lake and mountain scenes out your window. On arrival in French-speaking Geneva, make your way to your hotel for an overnight stay. Spend the evening enjoying a tasty meal at a local lakeside restaurant or take a relaxing boat trip out on the lake and admire the city’s cosmopolitan feel and the stunning backdrop of the Alps and the Jura mountains. Overnight in Geneva (Meals: No Meals)

Day 2: Geneva – Sestri Levante

After breakfast, make your way to the train station and board a service bound for Milan.  This route, which winds through the Simplon Pass, is one of the most scenic in Europe. Relax whilst the train follows the shores of Lake Leman and across Swiss vineyards, with stunning views of the Alps in the background. Travel further south after crossing the border into Italy before arriving in Milan and changing onto the service to Sestri Levante. On arrival, check in at your hotel for a four-night stay. Overnight in Sestri Levante (Meals: Breakfast)

Day 3: Cinque Terre & The Ligurian Coast

Today make use of your Cinque Terre card by taking the train or bus to explore the area or access one of the many trekking paths. Sestri Levante itself is a lovely little Riviera town extending around two bays, the Bay of Silence and the Bay of Fables (named for Hans Christian Andersen who lived here for a time). Amble around the winding streets, stop for an ice cream or unwind on the wide public beach. Overnight in Sestri Levante (Meals: Breakfast)

Day 04: Cinque Terre & The Ligurian Coast

Riomaggiore is one of our favourite village due to its charming multi-coloured houses which are arranged over the hillside overlooking the sea. Be prepared to walk up the village’s steep staircases to visit the castle for views over the city, or the less ambitious can relax on one of the beaches around the village. Overnight in Sestri Levante (Meals: Breakfast)

Day 05: Cinque Terre & The Ligurian Coast

As well as visiting the Cinque Terre villages we recommend a day trip to the nearby town of Portofino. This historic fishing village is a picturesque place to spend the day and can be reached by train or by boat during the summer. Lunch at one of the harbourside restaurants, or wander along the village’s tiny streets to discover hidden gems including art galleries and jewellery shops. Overnight in Sestri Levante (Meals: Breakfast)

Day 06: Sestri Levante – Departure

After your final breakfast in Sestri Levante, make your way to the train station for the journey to Genoa. Once in Genoa, transfer to the airport before flying back to London. Prefer the train to flying? Why not travel home along the tracks with a night in Turin? We would be happy to make these arrangements for you. (Meals: Breakfast)
