Starting from Brukenthal’s baroque summer residence, this journey takes you through stunning scenery, to century-old Saxo-Romanian culture and to the Hotel of Ice. And the choice to visit Brașov and Dracula’s castle in Bran or Sighișoara, the birthplace of the real Dracula!

Day 01: Arrive in Sibiu
Upon arrival in Sibiu we start with briefly tour of Avrig and the surrounding villages to get a first taste of the Transylvanian- axon culture and its influences. Overnight in Avrig (Meals: No Meals)

Day 02: Bälea Lake
We set off this morning to visit to the former Cistercian abbey in Cärta founded in 1202 and continue then continue to the village of Cärtipara where many old traditions are still preserved and used to this day. After a spectacular mountain drive, a short hike brings us to the Bälea waterfall where we enjoy a cable car ride to reach the 2034 metre-high Bälea glacier.  There is time at leisure to wonder around the beautiful landscapes of the Carpathian Mountains. Day 03: Avrig
This morning we drive back to Avrig to explore Transylvania’s “Garden of Eden”, Samuel von Brukenthal’s summer palace and carry on to Sibiu. We visit Sibiu’s historical centre including the Town Square, Town Hall, the Catholic Church and Brukenthal Palace with its unique art collection as well as the picturesque lower part of the town and the Evangelical Church. In the afternoon, we visit the Astra Outdoor Museum where hundreds of copies of old houses offer a fascinating insight into the traditional life of Romania before enjoying a festive dinner at the Brukenthal Palace. Day 04: Avrig
Option 1: BRAN – We start the tour with a stop at Romania’s largest Lippizaner horse breeding farm, founded by the Lords of Brukenthal and continuing to Sämbäta de Sus home to one of the most important Orthodox monasteries in Europe.  It is a short drive to Bran and Dracula’s country, perched high up on the rocks is the imposing Dracula’s Castle and a visit here is a must to explore its eerie history. We continue the journey through the winding and panoramic roads to visit Brapv. Stroll through the old town and the Market Square with the Old Town Hall, the Citadel, the Black Church, the Towers, Catherine’s gate and the Weavers’ Bastion. A cable car ride to Tämpa offers some magnificent views over the old town. Overnight in Avrig (Meals: Breakfast) Option 2: SIGHISOARA – visit Slimnic and the ruins of the Fliehburg castle located high above the city, before reaching the medieval settlement of Media. Our next stop brings us to Biertan, a castle-like fortified church and an UNESCO World Heritage. From here we carry on visiting the hilltop town of Sighișoara, the best preserved medieval town in Europe. We explore the Old Town with its Evangelical Church built in the 13th century, the marketplace and birthplace of Vlad Ill Tepes, the original inspiration for Bram Stoker’s novel “DracuIa”. Overnight in Avrig (Meals: Breakfast)

Day 05: Avrig – Departure
Time permitting, we enjoy a farewell stroll through the town before transferring to the airport for onward journey.
